Marketing after Practice Purchase

I'm thinking about purchasing a practice from a retiring dentist and I want to do some new marketing. Any suggestions on how to best reach new patients? What about existing or inactive patients?

Welcome Dr. Jackson,  I work with Dr. Schisler in Canada as part of his patient services team.  Everyone likes to get a gift.  Show your appreciation for the trust they have in your team when extensive work has been completed with a gift card to a near by restaurant.  They will spred the word to family and friends in no time.  Good Luck with the new office.

Send a press release to your local papers announcing you.  Take any opportunity to send press releases... new technology introduced... certifications achieved by you or your service projects your office does.

Get involved in your community!  Attend church; join the Rotary, Optimists, Masons; give talks at the local senior center, elementary school; get active with your local Dental Association; whatever!!!  Just get out there and let people know who you are and what you do!  Good luck!

I hope you sent a letter to the patients from the retiring doctor.  A nice sized photo of both of you with his endorsement, plus his thank you to his former patients passes the mantle from him to you.  Also he could endorse/suggest that they invite their family, friends and co workers to make you their family dentist.

You should write the letter and have him sign off on it.

Paul -- Get your team all on the same page in regard to your practice philosophies and communication systems. The patients of record are the most valuable to you at the present.Converting treatment plans of those patients as well as a great phone skills for new patient calls will be a great jump start. Wow moments for these patients can give them the knowledge they have made the right decision to stay and refer their friends and neighbors. The best marketing is always internal.

Set up a referral program and make it a contest for your team and patients - quarterly, do a drawing for a cool prize, like an iPad.

Also call patients the night after treatment to check on them, especially if they have had an injection.
